Global networks to benefit Finland
Business Finland's HX Fighter program ended in 2022. Finland has chosen the Lockheed Martin F-35A Lightning II as the next multi-role fighter.

The participation projects had to involve technologies that are critical to national safety or related to strategic industrial know-how. The total value of the participation is approximately EUR 2-3 billion.
Benefits for Finland
The industrial participation in the HX fighter program provided Finnish companies and research organizations with new, international business opportunities. In addition, the participation did strengthen the competence and abilities of the selected project partners and Finland in terms of technologies that are critical to national safety.
The benefits to the participants could include:
- long-term, global partnerships and customers
- new markets, licenses and certificates
- additional competence and training provided by world-class professionals
- software and technologies as technology transfers
- larger cooperation networks in Finland and abroad
SCHEDULE
The industrial participation will last for at least 10 years from the signed contract, which will be made during 2022. The actual delivery of the fighters will take place from 2025 to 2030.
