The goal is to create strategic research international collaboration with key international research partners and to make Finnish research in these areas more visible globally through international joint projects.
These new research areas like 6G and quantum computing are genuinely global and international research collaboration will align our future offering to the needs of global key players. It will increase our and our collaborators access to different research and test facilities as well as to resources. This call provides us with a holistic multidisciplinary and long-term approach needed for pre-emptive national R&I strategy implementation.
This call will be opened on January 1st, 2024. It is a continuous call until the end of both the 6G Bridge program (December 31st, 2026) and the Quantum Computing campaign (December 31st, 2024). Finnish universities and research institutes can bring new Co-Research and/or Co-Innovation project proposals to the call. There are no set dates for submitting your application. Business Finland is prepared to fund the part of research done by Finnish organizations (universities, research institutes and companies registered in Finland).
International collaborators will cover their costs with their own, national, or other funding. Read more about the Business Finland funding services. The same funding criteria, requirements and levels are used as in our other projects (see Funding terms and conditions).
Business Finland funding rate for close international collaboration for universities and research institutes is 70 % for Co-Research and 80 % for Co-Innovation projects. Business Finland also strongly recommends that consortium participants will enter into a consortium agreement.
Please approach Business Finland contact persons as soon as possible if you are considering such an international collaboration.
Here is a list of the most prominent hand-picked strategic international research ecosystems and organizations that are funding and/or coordinating applied research projects. A Finnish research organization may freely propose some other prominent international organizations for strategic international collaboration.
